Honeybrook lies at the Wimborne end of the Gaunts Estate, owned by the Glyn family for more than 250 years, and was designed and restored by the present Sir Richard. Gaunts Estate farms around 1500 acres including livestock and arable. Honeybrook carries special breeds of every sort of ‘domestic’ animal, (meaning familiar to farms), and most wildlife species too. The Riverside Park runs to some 84 acres, all of which is farmed during spring, summer and autumn only as the Water Meadows flood in winter.
Honeybrook is designed for all ages though we find teenagers tend to be more interested in electronic gadgets and the opposite gender until they come to be married! Families throng here. It is often said that Honeybrook is the children's favourite place. Too often they don’t want to go home!
And that’s quite good because our aim is to make traditional countryside safely available for the public to enjoy in all its forms. And we remember how important those times in the country and along the river were to us in our childhoods. It’s all part of trying to empower a better world.
We deliberately keep our entrance price frighteningly low, (less than a quarter of a less attractive, not entirely dissimilar place), despite the talented staff to pay and animals to feed and care for.
So come and enjoy what is possibly the most attractive farm and riverside park in England, commune with nature, and be happy!
